The Sarentino Valley

The Sarentino Valley: the place that has shaped us and continues to guide us today.
Our roots are here, where ideas and craftsmanship with heart come to life. The people of the Sarentino Valley shape our company with their solidarity, experience and characteristic humor.

In the heart of South Tyrol lies a peaceful valley with its own culture, unique customs and a distinctive language. Sarentino wit, Sarentino skis, Sarentino Toppar and Sarentino timber - all inseparably connected.

Strong Values, Strong Team

Sarner Holz KG is rooted in the Sarentino Valley in South Tyrol and looks back on over 60 years of history. From a simple farm sawmill, a modern, innovative company has emerged. The foundation was laid by co-founder Alfons Kemenater, who continues to follow the development of his company closely to this day.

Forward-Looking Leadership

Since 2002, the brothers Harald, Christian, and Günther Kemenater have been leading the company. As a family business, people are at the heart of everything. Together with their employees, they drive continuous development.

Sarntal Valley

Nestled in the mountain landscape of the Sarntal Alps in South Tyrol, the Sarntal Valley is a region shaped by forests, mountains, and a deeply rooted craft tradition. This environment has formed the foundation of our work for generations and shapes our responsible approach to the natural raw material of wood.

Trento

In addition to our main site in the Sarntal Valley, we operate a storage and logistics site in Trento, which supports the organisation and distribution of our products.

Kiefersfelden

In addition, we are represented with a site in Kiefersfelden (Germany), enabling us to serve customers efficiently throughout the Alpine region and the German-speaking market.

The Sarner Holz Family

Since 2002, the company has been managed by the three brothers Harald, Christian, and Günther Kemenater, who have continuously modernised and expanded the business.

The next generation is already waiting in the wings: Stefan and Michael Kemenater, Christian’s sons, are already working in the company and taking on important leadership roles.

By the way, we mean “family business” quite literally: with Martina, Gabi, Hannes, Martin, Thomas, and other members of the Kemenater family, it is clear that everyone here pulls together!

Even Alfons, the senior of the family, still does his round across the site every evening — at over 90 years of age.

Sarner Holz Works Sustainably

HVO

We have converted our entire diesel fleet to HVO fuel, reducing the CO₂ emissions of our vehicles by at least 85%. In this way, we are making an active contribution to clean air and sustainable mobility.

Circular economy: heating plant

We have no waste! The timber is 100% utilized. With our own heating plant, we heat our buildings and operate the drying chambers.

Green electricity

We produce part of our electricity ourselves via our own solar system and cover the remaining demand completely with 100% clean hydropower from South Tyrol – we consistently rely on regional, sustainable energy.

PEFC and wood from here

We are PEFC certified. In addition, we supply in local circuits and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Social responsibility

We enable breaks for mothers and fathers, we donate instead of giving expensive gifts, we take care of our employees. As one of the largest employers in the valley, we are aware of our responsibility. This is also why we are family and career certified.
