Sarner Holz stands for guaranteed sustainability.

As a family business, sustainable management is a matter close to our hearts – because our region and our world should remain worth living in for future generations as well. That is why we are strongly committed to going well beyond industry standards. For this reason, we are especially proud to carry the South Tyrol Sustainability Label.

South Tyrol sustainability label

In the timber sector, only a handful of companies, like us, meet all the criteria for this label. That makes us especially proud. But we are not stopping there:
we aim to reach Level 3 — the highest level — by 2027 at the latest. Several projects are already underway. Stay tuned!

HVO

We have converted our entire diesel fleet to HVO fuel, reducing the CO₂ emissions of our vehicles by at least 85%. In doing so, we make an active contribution to cleaner air and sustainable mobility.

Use of local timber

We process 100% timber from the Alpine region — no long transport routes, but top-quality spruce and larch directly from the region. This is how we combine sustainability with the highest-quality natural product.

Circular economy: heating plant

We generate no waste! The wood is used 100% efficiently. With our own heating plant, we heat our buildings and operate the drying chambers.

Green electricity

We produce part of our electricity ourselves through our own solar system and cover the remaining demand entirely with 100% clean hydropower from South Tyrol. In this way, we consistently rely on regional, sustainable energy.

PEFC and wood from here

We are PEFC-certified. In addition, we supply through local value chains and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Social responsibility

We enable time off for mothers and fathers, we donate instead of giving expensive gifts, and we take care of our employees. As one of the largest employers in the valley, we are aware of our responsibility. That is also why we are certified for family and work.

Virtual Tour: Our Heating Plant

In our heating plant, we generate 2.2 MWh of electrical energy and over 19 MWh of thermal energy.

The use of renewable resources is thus a central component of our sustainable energy strategy.
